The National Society of Arts and
Letters objective is to encourage and assist promising young artists through
arts competitions, scholarships and other career opportunities. This years big-money
competitions are in voice and the visual arts. Individual chapters may be sponsoring other
competitions in other disciplines.

The National Career Award Competition and the Winston Scholarship competitions must be
entered through your nearest local chapter.
The National Career Award Competition is
in voice. It is open to artists between the ages of 20 and 32, as of May 16, 2008. The top
award is $10,000, with several other awards available. Awards will be presented on May 17,
2008 in Bloomington, Indiana. See the rules at comprules

Winston Scholarships are available in
art and voice for promising artists between the ages of 16 and 22. Check out the rules at scholarships. and find the contacts for individual

As much as $20,000 will be awarded in May
of 2008, $10,000 in art and $10,000 in voice.
These competitions are the
"heart" of NSAL. They afford the opportunity for young people throughout the
United States to be heard and seen by professional critics, managers, producers, teachers,
the media, and patrons of the arts.
All competitions are adjudicated by
nationally known men and women in the arts. A Master Class is conducted by renowned judges
for the National Career Awards Competitions. Opportunities for one-on-one sessions and
individual critiques are also encouraged.
