SAINT LOUIS NSAL CHAPTER
The purposes of NSAL are to: encourage and assist young artists; give
scholarships and awards through competitions; create opportunities for artistic endeavor;
encourage greater interest in the creative arts; sponsor or assist with exhibitions in the
arts.
The Saint Louis Chapter serves the St. Louis Metropolitan area. It has
been assisting talented young artists since its founding in 1953. More than a hundred men
and women participate in the Chapter's activities. They are arts professionals or patrons
of the arts interested in furthering the careers of young artists. For Membership

NSAL's annual Career Competitions at national and chapter levels offer
substantial monetary awards. They are held in six arts areas: dance, drama, art,
literature, music or musical theatre. The 2008 Competition will in music (voice
performance). Age requirements are 20 to 32, as of May 16, 2008. The first round of the
competition which will take place in March 2008 is in the Saint Louis Chapter. Awards are
$l000, $750 and $500 for first, second and third places respectively. The first place
winner will advance to the national competition for awards of up to $10,000. Application
forms and competition guidelines will be available in September 2007. Materials will be
mailed as soon as available to interested singers who request them either by email, or by mail: c/o Kathy Lawton-Brown (see
below).

In addition to holding career competitions, the chapter meets four times annually to hear
speakers noted for the significant role they play in the arts. Chapter meetings are open
to members and their guests.
