2006
NSAL Master Class in Dance

As part of the 2006 dance competition, chapter winners took classes in
ballet, modern and jazz. Above, Brian Palmer leads the group.

Brian Palmer, who led the dance classes that were part of the
competition, is an assistant professor of dance and chair of the Division of Theatre and
Dance at Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida.

The morning after the competition, the young dancers prepare to
participate in a master class as the audience members settle into their seats. The class
consisted not only of dancing, but of a lecture on José Limon's work by Daniel Lewis, a
judge for the NSAL competition. Lewis is widely known for his association with the work of
José Limon.
Following the master class, the young dancers strike poses for the camera
of Judy Park, photographer for the National Society of Arts and Letters
