2007 Gold Medal
Award

The National Society
of Arts and Letters is proud to announce that the Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement in
the arts has been presented to Robert T. McCall, the worlds preeminent space artist.
For decades he has captured the excitement and wonder of space exploration through his
visionary masterpieces.
McCall was one of the first artists to be
invited into NASAs fine arts program. Over the years he has documented such
historical events as the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions. His multi-story murals in
the National Air and Space Museum and his paintings for such films as 2001: A Space
Odyssey and Star Trek: The Motion Picture are regarded as icons of the genre.
Two of the 21 U.S. postage stamps that
McCall has designed over the years were cancelled on the moon.
McCall and his wife, Louise, who is also
an artist, live in Arizona.
The Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement
is the National Society of Arts and Letters highest honor.
