2018 Dorothy Lincoln-Smith Classical Voice Competition's Winner

Tenor Anthony Ciaramitaro

Florida tenor Anthony Ciaramitaro is currently a Marion Roose Pullin Studio Artist at Arizona Opera. In their 2017-2018 season, he appeared as Theseus in Patrick Morganelli’s Hercules vs. Vampires. Spoletta in Tosca, The Governor and Vanderdendur in Candide, and Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville. Mr. Ciaramitaro joins Santa Fe Opera in 2018 as a member of the company’s coveted Apprentice Program, covering Lindoro in L’Italiana in Algeri. Mr. Ciaramitaro performed the role of Don Ramiro in La Generentola as a member of the prestigious Merola Opera Program in 2017, various ensembles as a Studio Artist with Chautauqua Opera in 2016, performed the roles of Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro and The Messenger in Aïda as a Studio Artist with Wolf Trap Opera in 2015, and made his professional debut with Florida Opera Theatre as Ferrando in Così fan tutte in 2014.

Mr. Ciaramitaro attended Florida State University for his M.M. under the direction of Maestro Douglas Fisher and voice teacher David Okerlund, where he performed the roles of Don Ramiro in La Generentola, Charles II in Carlisle Floyd’s Prince of Players, and Alfredo in La Traviata. Mr. Ciaramitaro received his B.A. from Rollins College and studied voice with Richard Owens. During his time with Mr. Owens, Mr. Ciaramitaro performed with the Franco-American Vocal Academy in Perigueux, France in 2013 and Music Theater Bavaria in Oberaurdorf, Germany in 2012.

In concert, Mr. Ciaramitaro has performed Orff’s Carmina Burana and Haydn’s The Creation with the Tallahassee Community Chorus, and Handel’s Messiah with The Messiah Choral Society of Winter Park and The Villages Philharmonic.
