Washington, DC — Sept. 25, 2019 – The National Society of Arts & Letters has awarded its 2019 drama competition prizes to seven winners, one of whom is Charence Monique Higgins, an MFA candidate in the Acting program at the University of Illinois, Champagne Urbana. She received the fifth-place $4,000 Ellie Taylor Memorial Award.

Higgins was selected to represent the NSAL Central Illinois Chapter nationally after winning first place in its own drama competition. Higgins is a Mississippi native.
